  • 3D Model - Visualization

  • Our team was tasked to plan and design the steel erection plans and the rigging for the construction of two temporary bridges required to provide safe passage for motorists during the reconstruction process within the Route 8 and I-84 Interchange. In order to decrease the length of construction, the erection plans were designed to pick the steel I-girders with the overhangs attached. Additionally, we were also tasked with the creation of the pile installation plan for the construction of the work trestles.

  • Because of the geometric complexity and the overall location of the temporary bridges, VLS Engineering, LLC. created 3D models as a visual assistance  for crane clearance checks and erection step clarification to field personnel.

SKOPE OF WORK:

  • Bridge Girder Jacking Plans

  • The Pearl Harbor Memorial bridge, more commonly know as the Q-Bridge, represents the first extradosed cable-stay bridge in the United States. For the project we were tasked by the contractor to create a series of girder jacking plans in order to realign the approach structure which consisted of steel I-girders. Our team successfully completed the task and with our field guidance, the contractor performed 2 synchronous lifts of 7 girder lines in order to remove the temporary sliding surface, 1 synchronous lift of 7 girders under active traffic to realign a bearing and 1 synchronous lift of 7 girders under active traffic to replace a damaged component in an abutment bearing.
